Use and Impact of PIRLS
Georgia participated in the 2006 and 2011 cycles of PIRLS. The National Assessment and Examination Center prepared and disseminated national reports among all schools and relevant agencies. The study results are discussed at national conferences dedicated to the national and international assessments. The reports also are available from the center’s website. The assessment results are disseminated through various media sources. PIRLS was the first assessment to raise national awareness on student literacy issues in the country.
The PIRLS 2011 report and recommendations have been instrumental in identifying teacher professional development priorities and reforming the curriculum, according to the National Teacher Professional Development Center and the Ministry of Education and Science.
